- Abstract: The goal of the Baby/Child Library is to assess the impact of providing reading materials and literacy motivational activities as part of a planned home visiting parenting support program (namely, the My Baby and Me Program). Half of mothers in the two levels of parenting supports (high and moderate) receive books weekly (52 books per year) for the first 3 years of the child's life (156 books in the library). Mothers also receive direct instruction in ways to promote language and early literacy through use of books. Research sites include University of Notre Dame, Georgetown University, University of Kansas, and University of Texas-Houston.
